01
Agreement to terms
By accessing or using Kideo ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These terms apply to all users of the Service, including parents, guardians, and children accessing the Service through a parent-managed account.
02
Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to register a parent account on Kideo. By registering, you confirm that you are an adult and are acting as the parent or legal guardian of any children whose profiles you create.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including the accounts of children you create.
- You must provide a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping it up to date.
- You may not share your account with others or allow others to access it without your supervision.
Child accounts may only be created by a registered parent or guardian. Children do not register themselves.
03
Acceptable use
You agree to use Kideo only for its intended purpose — curating a safe, parent-approved video library for children. You must not:
- Add video links that contain illegal, harmful, abusive, hateful, or sexually explicit content.
- Attempt to circumvent, hack, or interfere with the security or functionality of the Service.
- Use the Service to collect data about other users.
- Use automated tools to access or interact with the Service without our prior written permission.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that we believe is being used in violation of these terms, without notice.
04
YouTube content & ads
Kideo allows parents to add YouTube video links to their children's libraries. These videos are played via the YouTube IFrame Player API — YouTube's official embed service. Kideo is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.
By using Kideo, you agree to be bound by YouTube's Terms of Service and acknowledge that Kideo's use of the YouTube API is governed by the YouTube API Services Terms of Service. Google's privacy practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy.
■Advertisements: Videos played through Kideo may display ads served by YouTube. This occurs when a video's creator has enabled monetisation and the viewer does not have a YouTube Premium subscription. Kideo has no ability to disable, prevent, or control these advertisements. By using the Service, you acknowledge and accept that ads may appear during video playback.
You further acknowledge that:
- Kideo does not host, own, or control any video content — all videos remain on YouTube's platform.
- Videos may become unavailable at any time if removed by their creator or by YouTube, without notice to Kideo or to you.
- YouTube may change its platform, embed behaviour, or terms at any time, which could affect how videos play within Kideo.
- YouTube's own Terms of Service apply to all content viewed through the embedded player. See YouTube's Terms of Service.
- Kideo attempts to disable autoplay and related video suggestions, but cannot guarantee that YouTube's player will always honour these settings.
►We recommend that parents preview all videos before adding them to a child's library, and periodically check that added videos remain appropriate and available.
05
Service availability
Kideo is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at any particular time, uninterrupted, error-free, or free of bugs or security vulnerabilities.
- We may perform maintenance, updates, or changes to the Service at any time, with or without notice.
- We reserve the right to suspend, limit, or discontinue the Service entirely at any time and for any reason.
- We make no guarantee that the Service will remain operational for any particular period of time.
06
Data loss disclaimer
■Important: Kideo does not guarantee the permanent storage or availability of your account data, child profiles, or saved video lists. Data may be lost, reset, or permanently deleted in the event of a service outage, database failure, migration, or discontinuation of the Service.
We strongly recommend that you keep your own independent record of any YouTube video links you have saved in Kideo. Do not rely on Kideo as your sole record of important information.
In the event that we need to reset or shut down the Service, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users via email in advance where possible, but this cannot always be guaranteed.
07
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Kideo and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data, account information, or video lists
- Exposure to inappropriate content through YouTube's platform or player
- Advertisements displayed through YouTube's embedded player
- Service interruptions or downtime
- Any harm arising from the actions of third-party services (YouTube, Google, Vercel, Supabase)
Your use of Kideo is at your own risk. You are responsible for ensuring that the videos you add to your children's libraries are appropriate.
08
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when they were last revised. We will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users of significant changes via email.
Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
